Stewart, 71, of Caro, died Tuesday, August 24, 2010 in Covenant Health Care Cooper Campus, Saginaw following a long illness. He was born July 18, 1939 in Royal Oak to Edwin and June (Horalek) Stewart. He married Norma Jean Pitcher March 4, 1961 in Caseville. Donald served in the U.S. Marines. He worked as a Crane Operator and Sand Dryer for General Motors at the Gray Iron Foundry in Saginaw for 30 years retiring in 1990. Don was also a hobby farmer raising cash crops and beef cattle. He enjoyed restoring tractors, fishing and deer hunting with his granddaughter. He was a member of the Kingston AMVETS Post #1072. Don’s greatest love was spoiling his granddaughter, Crystal. Donald is survived by his wife, Norma; children: Lori (Cal) Barrett of Caro, Donald Stewart Jr. of Caro; granddaughter, Crystal Barrett; brother, Robert (Lois) Stewart of Gladwin; sisters: Geraldine (Donald) Parker of Mio, Carol (Richard) Wagner of Fairgrove, Shirley (Roy) Latty of Shields, Donna Zagorski of Cass City; many nieces and nephews and his Yorkie, Sadie. Also surviving are Norma’s family, brothers and sisters-in-law: Ronald (Peggy) Pitcher of Cass City, Phyllis Pitcher of Owendale. Beatrice was a former member of the White Creek Floral Club. She enjoyed bird watching, dancing and crocheting, making many beautiful blankets for her family. Beatrice also enjoyed working in her gardens especially tending her flowers. Graham, 100, of Cass City, died Thursday, August 19, 2010 in Hills & Dales General Hospital following a short illness. She was born January 21, 1910 in Detroit to Frederick and Minnie (Freeman) Lown. She married LeRoy Graham March 25, 1944 in Bowling Green, OH. He died August 10, 1972. Thelma was a very athletic young person. She enjoyed playing tennis. Her parents often visited Belle Isle and Thelma would swim in and skate on the Detroit River. After graduating from High School she worked for Vernor’s Ginger Ale in Detroit. Thelma said Mr. Vernor was a very nice man and told them they could have as much Vernors as they liked. She also sang in the church choir. After marrying Roy, they moved from the city to buy the Maharg farm in Cass City which they ran until Roy got sick. At that time they moved into town to make things easier for Thelma. Thelma worked for Walbro Manufacturing for a few years. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star and she regularly attended the former Salem United Methodist Church, now the Cass City United Methodist Church. She enjoyed listening to the Gaithers and recently attended their concert in Saginaw. Thelma enjoyed watching Tiger Baseball and University of Michigan Football, remembering fondly when her brother played on the U of M Football team while he attended college there. Thelma is survived by many special friends and neighbors including; Betty Greenleaf, Sherryl Seeley, Sue and Wally Laming, Ruth Whittaker and Don Greenleaf. He married Alice Marie Hicks on Valentine’s Day, 1997 in North Branch. Kurt graduated from Cass City High School in 1974. He graduated from University of Michigan with a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Sociology. Kurt later graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He took his navigation training in Louisiana and worked as a Boat Captain for Briley Marine of Morgan City, Louisiana for over 12 years. Kurt later worked for Michigan Wheel in Grand Rapids and last worked for Lear Manufacturing in Grand Rapids as a Mechanical Engineer. He enjoyed gardening, growing wonderful tomatoes. Kurt enjoyed working as a Sous Chef for Brown Restaurant in Ann Arbor while he attended U of M. He enjoyed wrestling in high school and playing tennis. He loved the water and his time on the ships. Kurt also enjoyed wind surfing. He was an avid reader and loved listening to Jazz and Blues. Kurt is survived by his wife, Alice; daughter, Alexandria Kirby Wagner at home; mother, Ruth O’Connor of Port Austin; sisters: Beverly (Les Jr) Auten of Cass City, Aileen (Daryl) Wismer of Saranac, Dorothy Green of Grand Rapids, Jill (Bill) Haps of Grand Rapids, Vicki (Gary) DeHaan of Georgetown, SC, Mary (Dale) Parsons of North Branch; many nieces and nephews. Those churches included ones in Grayling, Roscommon, Hillman, Linwood, Porter, Turner, Linden, Racy and Caro where Don spent his final ten years as a pastor. Rosalie enjoyed singing and playing the piano. She enjoyed canning, loved going to garage sales and loved canaries and dogs. Rosalie always had a pet. He married Sally Schuster Britton November 6, 1999 in Cass City First Baptist Church. Andy attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and Detroit Bible College. He was active in church ministry in Lincoln Park serving as Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon and Boys Brigade with Lincoln Park Bible Church. Andy moved to Caro in 1970 and lived there for over 30 years. While there he was active with Caro Gideon Ministry, Child Evangelism Fellowship. He was a member of Wahjamega Country Church serving as Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon and Word of Life Leader. He was a bus driver for Caro Community Schools for several years. Andy worked as an Independent Financial Planner with Multi-vest and later with Investment Company in Frankenmuth and then as a Financial Planner on his own. He enjoyed golfing and gardening. She was a homemaker and a correspondent reporter for the Cass City Chronicle writing the Holbrook News column for over 55 years. Thelma was an avid reader. Thelma is survived by her son and his wife, Robert (Joan) Jackson of Ubly; grandchildren: Cindi Lou Jackson of Orem, Ut, Stephen (Cheryl) Jackson of Sheridan, WY, John (Donna) Jackson of Apple Valley, CA; one great granddaughter; 5 step-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Helen Decker of Cass City; several nieces and nephews. Caroline worked for Kelsey-Hayes Company during World War II. She later worked as a machine operator for Burroughs for eleven years. After their marriage, Caroline joined Frank in Pinconning where together they raised Frank’s sons. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and many different arts and crafts. After retirement Caroline and Frank traveled a great deal becoming snowbirds to Florida, Texas and Las Vegas, Nevada. Caroline enjoyed visiting the casinos and loved the slot machines. Living through the depression made her a tough lady with strong beliefs. Caroline is survived by her step-sons: Tom (Sue Ellen) Bandyk of Grand Rapids, Dr. Dennis (Pam) Bandyk of Tampa, FL, David (Suzan) Bandyk of Milford and Dr. Mark (Elizabeth) Bandyk of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren: Steven (Kerri), Jennifer, Peter, Matthew, April, Alyssa, Jessica, Lindsay, Stephanie, Emily; great grandchildren: Connor, Lindsay; several nieces and nephews including special nephew, Michael O’Connell of Naples, ME. Harry owned and operated the IGA Grocery Store in Cass City for over 40 years until his retirement. Harry was a member of St. Agatha Catholic Church in Gagetown where he served as a lector, Council Member and Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of the Cass City/Gagetown Knights of Columbus #8892 and a former member of the Cass City Chamber of Commerce. Harry was pitcher on his blooper softball team and a former little league coach. He enjoyed golfing, pheasant and deer hunting, working in his yard and garden, and watching Detroit Tiger baseball.
