ALFRED JAMES WALLACE

Alfred J. Wallace, 78, of Cass City, died Sunday, September 27, 2026 in his home. Al was born November 25, 1947 in Cass City to Donald Edmund and Beva B. (Nichols) Wallace. He married Charleyne “Charlie” Almas on May 11, 1974 in Cass City.

Al graduated from Cass City High School in 1966 and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969. He worked for GM and Goodall Construction before dedicating nearly thirty years to UPS, where he eventually retired. An avid outdoorsman, Al loved golfing and playing softball for Jack’s Bar and Osentoski Realty. He was passionate about deer hunting. Al also enjoyed pheasant hunting, hunting bear in Canada, and competing in squirrel hunting tournaments. Above all, he was happiest at the family farm, visiting two or three times a day and tending to his garden. Among Al’s favorite memories was a special trip to Alaska with Charlie to celebrate their fortieth wedding anniversary. More than anything, he cherished his family and loved nothing more than cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events.

Al survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Charlie; sons: Darren (Janel) Wallace, Scott (Lori) Wallace, Brent (Robin) Wallace; grandchildren: Hunter (Abby), Ryker, Bryn, Reed, Macey, Alexa, Kaleb; great granddaughter, Hope; sisters: Sharon (Arnold) Erla, Marilyn Ziemba; sisters-in-law, Bea Wallace, Monica (Mickie) Bessler; brother-in-law, Gunner (Vicky) Almas; many nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Lois Tackeberry. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Bob Wallace, Beverly (Jim) Mayfield, Jack (Marlene) Wallace, Carol Hartman, brothers-in-law: Leonard Ziemba, Phil (Bonnie) Audette; sister-in-law, Theresa Hurley; father-in-law, Bud Almas. The Wallace family wishes to send a very special thank you to American’s Hospice Care for all of the help they provided.

Memorial service held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2026 in Novesta Church of Christ with Brad Speirs officiating. Memorials may be made to Novesta Church of Christ, Cass City V.F.W. #3644 or American’s Hospice Care. Military honors conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard and the Cass City V.F.W. Post #3644.
