ANDREW J. COLBURN
Our beloved Andrew J. Colburn, born on September 24, 1988 in Middletown, Connecticut left to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at the age of 35 after a long and debilitating battle with mental illness, which prevented him from achieving his life goals and aspirations. While Andrew may not have described himself as follows, his family and those who knew him will always remember him as the courageous protector and gentleman that he was. Andrew had many obstacles in his life but persevered. Andrew’s teachers in grade school raved about his brilliance, creativity, and big heart. After completing his primary school education, Andrew enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and completed basic training at Parris Island in 2007. He was awarded a National Defense Service Medal and earned the Expert Rifle Badge as second best shot in Company D.
Surviving to cherish Andrew’s memory is his mother, Kelly (Dr. David) (Rayl) Vann, of Tampa, FL; his father, John (Carol) Colburn (US Air Force; Vietnam) of The Villages, FL; his sisters: Abby (David Hoover) Colburn of Syracuse, NY; Angelina Vann (Nathan Ketelsen) of Tampa, FL niece, Raelyn Hoover of Syracuse, NY; his grandma, Donna Rayl of Akron, MI. Andrew is predeceased by his adored grandfather, Elmer Rayl (US Marine Corps; Korea); his grandparents: John (Marion) Colburn Sr. (US Army; WWII). Andrew always thought of others first before himself. He will be cherished and deeply missed by us all.
