BARBARA ELAINE BURDON
Barbara E. Burdon, 82, of Gagetown died Sunday, December 10, 2023 following a battle with cancer. She was born June 5, 1941 in Grant Township, one of seven children born to G. Howard and Nelda Elaine (Roller) Irrer. She married Paul R. Burdon on July 28, 1962 in St. Agatha Catholic Church of Gagetown.
Barbara graduated from Cass City High School. She was a hairstylist and owned her own business, Barb’s Beauty Room, for many years. Barbara’s greatest accomplishment was her family. She was always there to teach catechism, Girl Scouts, golf, morals, and to chauffeur everyone to sporting events and practices. Barbara also found time for many hobbies including golfing, knitting, reading, and gardening. Her most impressive talent was her artistic ability expressed in oil painting and water colors. Barbara even taught classes to the community. She was a faithful Catholic and served her church and the Lord in many ways.
Barbara’s greatest joy throughout the years was teaching her grandchildren to golf, to paint, and to watch them succeed. It is fitting that she passed away during the Christmas season. Barbara loved to decorate and helped with the decorating of St. Agatha Church. In her teen years, she portrayed Mary in the Cass City Christmas Pageant.
Barb is survived by her husband, Paul of Gagetown; son, Willard (Lynda) Burdon of Muskegon; daughter, Paula Potter of East Lansing; grandchildren: Joshua (Katie) Burdon, Jordan (Chelsea Mead) Burdon; Zackary Burdon, Morgan Potter, Lauren Potter; siblings: Raymond Irrer; Marvin (Barb) Irrer, Beverly Irrer, Joyce Anderson; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Gerhard; brother, Ronald Irrer; mother-in-law, Joyce Burdon Horowitz; father-in-law, Willard A. Burdon.
Funeral mass held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 14, 2023 in Our Lady Consolata Parish, Gagetown with Fr. Robert Pare officiating. Interment will be in St. Agatha Cemetery, Gagetown. Memorials may be made to Compassus Hospice Care of Cass City or St. Agatha Cemetery Fund (check must be made out to Our Lady Consolata).
