BEATRICE BERYL (BEBE) MCLACHLAN
Beatrice (Bea) McLachlan, 61, of Lansing, formerly of Cass City, died Tuesday, June 17, 2025 unexpectedly in her home. She was born September 23, 1963 in Midland to Archie and Gwen (Osborn) McLachlan.
As a young girl that worked on a farm, Bea developed a love for animals that she carried throughout her life. In high school, Bea was very active in sports and continued to play softball following graduation. Bea graduated from Cass City High School in 1981. She attended Central Michigan University and graduated with a degree in recreational therapy. She worked in Kalamazoo in that field and later pursued a career in Ionia State Prison for many years, until she moved to Lansing. Bea continued her career managing developmentally disabled individuals until she retired in 2024. She loved the outdoors, whether it be picking morels, fishing, canoeing, or hunting for unique stones and rocks with her cousin Joann. Bea could never resist helping a dog or human in need, that was just who she was. She adored her family and had a deep, unwavering love for her niece, Shelby and nephew, Zack. Many fond memories were made at the family cottage and at the farm.
Bea is survived by her brothers: Bob McLachlan, Scott (Ruth) McLachlan; niece, Shelby (Thomas) LaValley; nephew, Zachary McLachlan; beloved fur babies: Poppy and Squirt. She is predeceased by her parents, cousins: Joann Peters, Chris Peters.
Honoring Bea’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service at this time. A private celebration of life will take place at a future date. Memorials may be made to Cass River Pet Friendz or Tuscola County Animal Shelter.
