THOMAS ASA BURNS,
57, of Cass City, died following a long illness Thursday, November 21, 2013 in Hills & Dales General Hospital. He was born January 20, 1956 in Wayne County to Edward General and Doreen Elizabeth (Bond) Burns. He married Brenda Kay Moore May 12, 1979 in Palms.
Tom attended Deckerville High School and completed one year of college at St. Clair County Community College in Port Huron. He served two years in the U.S. Army. Tom worked for Milligan Farms for several years and has driven truck for many years for Walther Farms. In the past Tom enjoyed deer hunting. He enjoyed barbecues and camping with family and friends. Tom was a mechanic and enjoyed working on cars.
Tom is survived by his wife, Brenda; son, Tommy (Thomas Tiltman) Burns of Bay City; sisters: Legita (Theron) Davis of Fowlerville, AL, Denise E. (Matthew) Dreher of Palms, Marylou Brown of Lawrenceburg, TN, Theresa (Craig) Whitney of Minden City; brothers: Edward (Tracy) Burns of Ruth, Robert Burns of Deckerville, Asa (Debbie) Burns of Deckerville; mother-in-law, Janice Moore of Cass City; brother-in-law, Duane (Marsha) Moore of Bay City; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Tom will be also be missed by his friend and companion, his Shih Tzu, Misty. He is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Steven Brown, his parents and his father-in-law, Donald M. Moore.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2013 in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven Bagnall officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Burns: Ed Burns, Asa Burns, Robert Burns, Dave Osentoski, Al Lapeer, Dave Martin, Nick Messing, Derek Hamp and Chuck Bliss. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund.
