CHARLES FREDERICK HARTWICK

Charles F. Hartwick, 90, of Cass City, went home to be with his Savior after a long illness on Monday June 17, 2024 in Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. He was born February 3, 1934, the youngest of ten children in Cass City, to Edward and Ruth (Jackson) Hartwick. Chuck married Kathleen Marie Fisher on April 11, 1964 in Fraser Presbyterian Church.

Chuck grew up on a farm north of Cass City and graduated from Cass City High School. He went on to serve in the United States Air Force, where he worked on a communications base in Japan as a radio mechanic. Afterwards, Chuck took the knowledge and experience he gained in the Air Force and started his own radio and television repair business. He later worked for Walbro Corporation as an electrician for many years until retirement.

Chuck was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Cass City where he sang bass in the choir for many years and served his Lord in many capacities. He was known for his steady personality and willingness to help others. Chuck was a faithful husband to Kathleen and they recently celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary.

Chuck never lost his love of farm life and for many years raised sheep on his farm north of town. He loved to be active and participated in several 10K runs and mountain bike competitions as well as playing on his church’s fast pitch softball team well into his fifty’s. Chuck was an avid bird watcher and woodworker. After retirement, he sometimes traveled to craft shows to sell his beautiful and well-crafted wood products.

Chuck is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen; two sons: Chris (Maylin) Hartwick; Eric (Norma) Hartwick; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers: Arlan, Paul, Lawrence, Leland, Leslie, Robert, Gerald; two sisters: Erma (Mellendorf) and Elaine (Crane).
