CHARLES ARTHUR REED

     Charles A. Reed, 91, of Cass City died Sunday, June 22, 205 in Medilodge of Cass City. He was born November 21, 1933 in Cass City to Carl Daniel and Adeline (Middleton) Reed, Sr. He married Elizabeth Moreau in 1955, they divorced in 1983, and she died in 2014.

     Charles graduated from Cass City High School and joined the U.S Marine Corps. He served his country during the Korean War era. Upon returning home, he worked as a butcher for his father’s meat processing plant, Reed and Sons for many years. Charles spent over twenty-eight years with Explorer Scout Troop # 2594. He achieved the Big Horn Award which was the highest award/rank in the former Explorer Scout program. Charles was a skilled woodworker. He made many toys and various household items, such as cabinets, picture frames, and bread boxes.

     Charles is survived by his children: Laurie (Russ) Ianson of Pleasant Prairie, WI; Steve Reed of Gagetown, Rusty (Lori) Reed of Sturges, Scott Reed of Copperas Cove, TX; grandchildren: Aaron Wright, Anthony Reed, Peter (Sara) Vento, Dawn Reed, Anthony Reed, Elizabeth Reed; great grandchildren: Michael, Savannah; and a great-great granddaughter; his brother, Dale Reed of Vassar. Charles is predeceased by his brothers: Phillip Reed, Carlton Reed, Jr.; great grandson, Donovan Reed; sisters-in-law: Janet Reed, Rose Reed; daughter-in-law, Mary Reed.

Cremation has taken place. A family memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Steve Reed for the family’s wishes.
