Dale Erick Gornowicz

 DALE ERICK GORNOWICZ

            Dale E. Gornowicz, 80, of Ubly died Sunday, March 10, 2024 in Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit.  He was born April 19, 1943 in Tyre to Vincent and Sophie (Wrubel) Gornowicz.  He married Ruth Ann Mildred Rothe on March 12, 1966 in St. Ignatius Church, Ubly.  She died October 12, 2022.

            Dale was a lifelong farmer.  He loved the land and its natural beauty.  His world was the farm, and his home was on a tractor.  Dale was one of the first organic farmers in the area.   He delighted in feeding the birds and he would talk about a special tree on a particular area of his property.   His door was always open to friends and neighbors.  A welcome smile would greet unexpected visitors and Dale and Ruth Ann both loved to “shoot the breeze” with whomever appeared on their doorstep.  If the visitors played cards, all the better.  Dale was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed fishing.   He was a member of St. Ignatius Church.               Dale is survived by his brother, Rod Gornowicz; nephews and nieces:  Ray (Ruth) Gornowicz, Charles Gornowicz, Paul Gornowicz, Kathy (Gary) Rumptz, Sheryl (Todd) Gornowicz-Kramis, Randy (Cathy) Gornowicz; several nieces and nephews; special cousin, Larry Gornowicz; brothers-in-law:  Raymond (Darlene) Rothe, Richard (Sharon) Rothe.   He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth Ann; brother, Gerald Gornowicz.     

Funeral Mass held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2024 in St. Ignatius Church, Ubly with Fr. Nate Harburg officiating.  Interment in Freiburg Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Parish.  

Visitation:   4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2024 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City

                              10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2024 in St. Ignatius Church, Ubly
