Gazella Deering

May 18, 1937 — March 7, 2016

Gazella Jean Deering, 78, of Cass City, died following a long illness Monday, March 7, 2016 in Covenant Medical Center, Cooper Campus, Saginaw. She was born May 18, 1937 in Caro to Emery and Gazella (Szaki) Muska. She married Roger Deering on her birthday, May 18, 1968 in Caro Lutheran Church.

Jean graduated from Millington High School. She worked for General Cable for a few years then worked as a cook for Charmont Restaurant for 20 years retiring in 1997. Over the years, Jean enjoyed shooting pool, bowling and trips to the casino. She helped with the local Boy Scout Troop for a time and played on a local softball team. Jean loved to drive fast and listen to the radio in her Trans Am. Most important to Jean was her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren could walk on water in her eyes.

Jean is survived by her husband, Roger; children: Carl (Frances) Palmateer, Jr. of White Post, VA, Joel Palmateer of Hanover, PA, Julie (Robert) Palmateer-Brown of Phoenix, AZ, Deann (Jim) Luana of Reese, Mark (Debbie) Deering of Cass City, Kristy Deering of Las Vegas, Kelly (Kimberly) Deering of Shields; grandchildren: Alex Palmateer, Abby Palmateer, Gabe Palmateer, Lyndi Trischler, Kalen Trischler, Lydia Koehler, Emily Koehler, Ryan (Amy) Johnson, Austin (Courtney) Deering, Brett Deering, Kristen Bonner, Cody Orban; great grandchildren: Rylen, Emery, David, Cheyanne, Matthew, Aidyn; brothers: James (Mary Lee) Muska of Caro, Gary (Althea) Muska of Caro; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her great grandson, Luca.

Remembrance time 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2016 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Cass City Rotary Christmas for Kids. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and stories with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
