LORINDA “RIN” (MARION) ROCHELEAU DELONG
Lorinda M. DeLong, 94, of Cass City, died Friday, December 21, 2018 at Northwood Meadows Medical Care Unit, Cass City. She was born March 26, 1924 at home in Gagetown to Alfred and Lola (Menzel) Rocheleau. She married Leland Dean “Bill” DeLong May 31, 1941 in Cass City. He died April 30, 1983. Rin met Moe Thibodeau from Sudbury, Canada in 1989 and they shared many loving years of companionship together until his death on October 22, 2009.
Rin resided in Cass City. She worked for Owendale Automotive Industries until the plant closed. In the early 1960’s she moved to Clare returning to Cass City after Leland’s death. She was a past member of the American Legion in Harrison, a life member of DAV, a member of St. Pancratius Catholic Church and a past member of Cass City Lioness Club. Rin also worked in the cafeteria for Cass City Community Schools. She and Leland wintered in Florida for many years and she continued to be a snowbird with Moe and after his death. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, playing bridge and spending time with her family.
Rin is survived by her children: Linda (Thomas) Herron of Cass City, Bonnie (Frank) Miller of Summerfield, FL, Joyce LaRoche of Cass City; grandchildren: Brenda (Tim) Brinkman, Barbara Herron (Bill Harris), Dawn (Michael) Karr, Paula (Richard) LeValley, Donald Herron (Kristina Grand), Angela Jordan, Chantel (Dean) Paavola, Danielle (Bill) Paris, Tena (Dean) Rabideau, Theresa (Scott) Vatter, Jamie (Joe) Krol, LeAnn Philo, Jodi (John) Dean; 26 great grandchildren; 25 great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Yvonne Rocheleau of Clarkston, Viola Sciatone of Bay City, Nancy Shagene of Cass City; many nieces and nephews. Rin is also survived by her Canadian family, children: Robert (Pirjo) Thibodeau, Wayne (Barb) Thibodeau, Lawrence (Sue) Thibodeau, Paul (Donna) Thibodeau; grandchildren: Lisa Larose, Scott Kivisto, Chad Thibodeau, Kris Thibodeau, Tara Hindle, Becky Boileau, Cindy Martin, John-Paul Thibodeau, Rebecca Thibodeau, Craig Thibodeau; 18 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by sons-in-law: Jim LaRoche, Cliff Bemus; brothers and sisters-in-law: LeRoy (Elsie) Rocheleau, Victor Rocheleau, Richard (Blanche) Rocheleau, Edward (Pat) Rocheleau, Gerald (Shirley) Rocheleau; sisters and brothers-in-law: Marie (Don) Wood, Dolores (Bill) Bright, Corinne (Harvey) Carr; infant brother and sister: Harold Rocheleau and Dorothy Rocheleau; granddaughter, Kelly LaRoche; Canadian family: Frank Thibodeau.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018 in Our Lady Consolata Parish, St. Pancratius Catholic Church with Rev. Rick Ross officiating. Interment will be in Novesta Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Ms. DeLong will be her grandchildren: Brenda Brinkman, Barbara Herron, Dawn Karr, Chantel Paavola, Danielle Paris, Tina Rabideau, Theresa Vatter, Jamie Krol.
