SHERRY JEAN DILLON
Sherry J. Dillon, 73, of Cass City, died Friday, October 26, 2018 in Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, following a brief battle with cancer. She was born March 27, 1945 in Cass City to Clinton Lewis and Margaret (Merchant) Law. She married Wayne Dillon August 20, 1966 in St. Pancratius Catholic Church, Cass City.
Sherry attended Cass City High School graduating in 1963, where as a sophomore she cheered as a varsity cheerleader. She graduated from Central Michigan University with a master’s degree in elementary education. Sherry taught kindergarten and first grade at Campbell Elementary School in Cass City, taking time off to start and raise her own family. She returned to teaching in 1977 and continued until retiring in 2003. Together, Sherry and Wayne traveled throughout Europe, even following the Band of Brother’s Tour. They chaperoned foreign language trips and took an Alaskan cruise. They enjoyed their trip to Ireland, which they made twice. Sherry and Wayne visited every state in the United States. Sherry loved spending time with her grandchildren. She made every grandchild their own picture book every year.
Sherry is survived by her husband, Wayne; sons: Jeff (Julee) Dillon of Auburn; Scott (Suzanna) Dillon of Argyle, TX; grandchildren: Jaydee Dillon, Drew Dillon, Regan Dillon, Jack Dillon; sisters in law: Gayle (Tom) Budzynski, Jean Tobias, Joan (Bill) Quade; nieces and nephews: Elizabeth Luke, Brekke Quade, Laura Quade, Marni (John) Carnahan, Derek (Ruby) Doerr; great nieces and great nephews: Nolan Luke, Maya Doerr. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Delbert (Shirley) Law.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2018 in Our Lady Consolata Parish, St. Agatha Catholic Church, Gagetown with Rev. Adam Maher officiating. Interment will be in St. Agatha Catholic Cemetery, Gagetown. Memorials may be made to St. Agatha Perpetual Cemetery Fund, St. Agatha Food Pantry, or charity of the donor’s choice.
