DONNA MARGUERITE DORLAND
91, of Decker, died peacefully in her home with her family by her side Wednesday, July 21, 2021. She was born January 28, 1930 to Harry and Margaret (Phillips) Mitchell. Donna married Otis W. Dorland March 24, 1950 in Mizpah Missionary Church. He died June 25, 2011.
Donna graduated from Cass City High School. As a dedicated bus driver for the Cass City School District for 40+ years, she drove school bus until she was eighty years old. Donna was a kind and loving woman, affectionately known as “grandma” to everyone. She loved gardening, baking pies, and watching birds. Coffee club at Nick’s Restaurant with her retired lady friends, was an event that she always looked forward to. Donna was an active member of Deford Community Church. Her favorite Bible chapter was the Twenty-Third Psalm.
Donna is survived by her children: Cheryl Kilbourn of Cass City; Kathy (Toby) Guinn of Decker; James Dorland of Deford; Barbara (Dave) McComb of Cass City; Timothy (Lorna) Dorland of Deford; Tom (Kathy) Dorland of Cass City; Debra (David) Heacock of Charlotte; daughter-in-law Kim Dorland of Coleman; special friend, Don Kitchin of Waterford; sister, Jean Wood of Greenville; sister-in-law, Lois Harris of Fountain Hills, AZ; 28 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband; son, David Dorland; brother, Hugh Mitchell; sister, Ellen Lambert; two great-grandsons: Justin and Micheal.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Deford Community Church with Pastor David Cooper officiating. Memorials may be made to Deford Community Church, Deford Christian Academy or Compassus of Cass City. Interment will take place in Evergreen Township Cemetery.
