DWAINE JOSEPH PETERS
Dwaine J. Peters, 88, of Cass City, died unexpectedly Friday, February 9, 2024 in Hills and Dales Healthcare, Cass City. He was born October 20, 1935 in Cass City, one of nine children born to Virgil and Sophie (Konkel) Peters. He married Helen Virginia Romain on January 25, 1956 in Caro. She died April 4, 2021.
Dwaine graduated from Cass City High School in 1955. He served as a member of the United States Merchant Marine for two years. As a barber, Dwaine enjoyed cutting hair for many years. He was a very good pool player. Dwaine had many other talents including woodworking and painting. His other favorite pastimes were trotting horses and fishing, also hunting for pheasant, deer and morel mushrooms. A card player, Dwaine participate in games of cribbage and euchre. He was a member Our Lady Consolata Parish, Cass City and a lifetime member of the Cass City Gun Club. Dwaine was especially supportive of his kids and grandkids. He loved watching them play sports whenever he could.
Dwaine is survived by his children: Rebecca (Robert) Bird of Cass City; Renee (Michael) Brinkman of Cass City; Dwaine (Barbara) Peters II of Cass City; Rochelle (Paul) Brown of Cass City; Virgil (Amy) Peters of Cass City; grandchildren: Benjamin (Jamie) Hennessey, Nathan (Amber) Hennessey, Aimee (Justin) McIntosh, Ana (Taylor) Bird-Parks, Kristen Bird, Chloe (Dennis) Kikanobic, Ian Bird, Heather Franzel, Heidi Pomeroy, Melissa (Rocky) Erla, David Erla, Jessica Peters, Mason Brown, Justin Peters, Emily (fiancé Jacob Adams) Peters; many great-grandchildren; brother, Randy (Julie) Peters of Sherwood; sister, Mary Lou Kerr of Bay City; sister-in-law, Harriet Peters of Cass City; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen; grandsons: Zachary Hennessey, Dwaine Joseph Peters III, Benjamin Bird; brothers: Ronald (Nancy) Peters, Gordon Peters, LaVerne Peters, Roger (Judy) Peters, Larry Peters; sister, Patricia (Howard) Peters.
Funeral Mass held 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 16, 2024 in Our Lady Consolata Parish, Cass City with Fr. Robert Pare officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery in the spring. Memorials may be made the Cass City Gun Club.
