EDNA LEE McLACHLAN
Edna L. McLachlan, 89, of Cass City, died Friday, February 7, 2025 surrounded by family in MyMichigan Health, Saginaw. She was born October 15, 1935 in Gideon, Missouri to Woodrow and Minnie (Rieffer) Shelton.
Edna lived in Essex, MO with her mother and grandparents. When she was five they moved to Dexter, MO until she was in the eleventh grade. Edna moved once again, this time to Pontiac and where she graduated from Clarkston High School. She worked in various stores, restaurants, and country clubs in Oakland County. She married Arthur West and had three children. In 1970 she moved to Decker and worked for Marlette schools as a bus driver, for Wildwood Farms, Snover Stamping, and other bars and restaurants. Edna studied accounting at St. Clair Community College in Port Huron and worked at H&R Block completing income taxes. She married Robert McLachlan in 1985. Edna worked for Winters Truck Sales, Colony House, and the Huron County Medical Care Facility during which time, she helped Bob with the farm, feeding cattle, and driving truck. Edna loved antiques, especially bottles and dishes and belonged to Flint Bottle Club for many years. She enjoyed canning and processing venison with her grandchildren and family.
Edna is survived by her husband, Robert McLachlan; daughter, Marilyn King; son, James (Kim) West; ten grandchildren; many dearly loved greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, including special nephews: Scott (Ruth) McLachlan and Bob McLachlan. She is preceded in death by son, Henry L. West; grandson, David James West; son-in-law, Dennis King.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 2025 in Kranz Funeral Home with Rev. Christina Jensen of Fraser Presbyterian Church and Edna’s grandson, Denny King, co-officiating. Memorials may be made to Fraser Presbyterian Church or donor’s choice. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery in the spring.
