EDWARD WARREN KNIGHT
Edward W. Knight, 78, of Cass City, passed peaceful among family on Friday, September 22, 2023 in Beaumont Hospital, Troy. He was born March 15, 1945 to Ephraim and Mary (Nugent) Knight in Cass City, who greeted him in Heaven upon his arrival. He married Dorothy Ann Kanon on October 10, 1970 in Detroit.
Edward graduated Cass City High School, where he happily co-chaired many alumni reunions in the years following. He served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967 with the 4th Battalion, 62nd Artillery, Field Artillery Battalion where he earned the rank of Specialist 5th Class before being honorably discharged. Soon after, Ed joined Chrysler where he worked from general salary in the mailroom to executive in Sales and Marketing. He graduated the Chrysler Institute with a degree in Industrial Management and earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Central Michigan University while working. Ed retired from Chrysler after 38 years and returned to Cass City where he continued his love of golf, duck hunting, community service, and adventures and casino trips with Dorothy, his family and his friends. He was proud to be a Mount Moriah Masonic Lodge #226 Life Member Moslem Shriner, and of The Supreme Council, Scottish Rite, Northern Jurisdiction; Past President of the Cass City Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, past member of the Cass City Planning Council, past President and member of the Cass City Lions Club, and past Lions Club Lion-of-the-Year honoree.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-two years, Dorothy Knight; cherished daughter, Laura (Tim) Schneider; adored grandchildren: Joshua Schneider and Faith Schneider; sister, Janis (Aaron) Wolfe; sister-in-law, Shirley Moore; nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews; great-great nieces and great-great nephews. He will be greatly missed and forever loved.
Funeral service held 12:00 p.m. Friday, September 29, 2023 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Sam Leppert, funeral celebrant officiating. Military honors conducted by Cass City V.F.W. Post #3644 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Ed would be honored to have you donate to Shriner’s International, the Lions Club of Cass City to provide sight services to others, or the Cass City Chapter of Ducks Unlimited to help continue waterfowl conservation and young hunter education.
