MARY LOU ERLA,
81, of Cass City, died following a brief illness Saturday, February 4, 2017 in United Hospice of Marlette Residence Center, Marlette. She was born May 23, 1935 in Imlay City the youngest of three children born to Oren and Edna (Allen) Dungey. She married Donald Joseph Erla July 21, 1955 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Imlay City.

Mary Lou graduated from Imlay City High School which she followed with two years of college at Flint Junior College. Mary Lou was a homemaker, a great mom and grandma, she was always there for everyone. At one point Mary Lou owned and operated the Pied Piper Clothing store. She also worked in the Paint Store where she helped folks with color suggestions and other decorating tips. Mary Lou loved working in her flower gardens. A hobby of sewing became a hobby of quilting in later years. She enjoyed many trips with her friends. The family cottage in Rose City on Island Lake was a place where Mary Lou found peace and where she enjoyed many gatherings with family.

Mary Lou is survived by her husband, Donald; children: Dave (Rhonda) Erla of Texas, Don (Cathy) Erla of Caro, Beth (Guy) Howard of Cass City, Amy (Scott) Hartel of Cass City, Bob (Dawn) Erla of Cass City, Bill Erla of Pigeon; 16 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren with the 13th great grandchild due in May; brother, Art (Tress) Dungey of Imlay City; sister, Carolyn Touchette of Virginia; many nieces and nephews. Also remembering and missing Mary Lou is her dog, Chloe. She is preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Clare Touchette.

Memorial service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 15 2017 in Cass City First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Linda Graham officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
