GARY LEE FRANZEL,
50, of Ubly, died as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident Sunday, June 15, 2014 in Tuscola County. He was born February 21, 1964 in Deckerville the first of 14 children born to Charles John and Sharon Ann (Walsh) Franzel.
Gary owned Franzel Carpentry in Southeast Michigan for 9 years. He also worked for Posen Construction in Southeast Michigan. Currently Gary was employed with Quality Wood Products in Ubly. Gary enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. Gary loved the outdoors. He enjoyed snowmobiling, boating and especially loved riding his Harley. Gary also enjoyed gardening and canning and freezing the food he grew.
Gary is survived by his children: Chelsey Franzel of Denver, CO; Adam Franzel of Shelby Township, Cory Franzel of Shelby Township; parents: Charles and Sharon Franzel of Ubly; special friend, Jeanette Marker of Sebewaing; brothers: Christopher Franzel of Bad Axe, Michael Franzel of Ubly, David (Jeni) Franzel of Ubly, Kevin Franzel of Ubly, Charles Franzel, Jr. of Caseville, Richard (Sarah) Franzel of Ubly, Rodney Franzel of Ubly, Brian (Nancy) Franzel of Ubly, Bradley Franzel of Ubly; sisters: Kimberly (Greg) Keller of Ubly, Karen (Joseph) Pichla of Freeland, Kelly (Robert) Comini of Highland, Kathy Franzel of Sterling Heights; grandmother, Rita Walsh of Ubly; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his infant sister, Elaine; grandparents: Leo Walsh, Glen and Emma Franzel.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2014 in St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Freiburg, Good Shepherd Parish with Rev. Charles Hammond, officiating. Interment will be in St. Ignatius Cemetery, Freiburg. Pallbearers for Mr. Franzel: Dale Doerr, Tom Grifka, Mike Stout, Jerry Brown, Gordon Walsh and Mike Lautner.
