 GARY DARRELL KOEHLER

Gary D. Koehler, 91, of Kingston passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025 in United Hospice of Aspire in Marlette. He was born January 20, 1934 in Clifford to Warren and Doris (Albertson) Koehler. He married Shirley Wenzlaff on February 27, 1954 in Kingston.

Gary attended Kingston High School, where he was captain of the first Kingston High School football team, and graduated with the Class of 1952. He served his country with the United States Army stationed at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. Upon Gary and Shirley’s return to the area, he worked for Marlette Coach building travel trailers. Gary then went to work at Michigan Sugar before coming home to farm full time. He had a love for the great outdoors, whether that was in his shed tinkering, hunting in the woods, or fishing in his pond. Gary was named Tuscola County Conservationist of the Year in 1992. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren playing sports.

Gary is survived by his wife of seventy-one years, Shirley; daughter, Roxanne (Jeff) Croft; sons: Jason (Melissa) Koehler, Kale (Sarah) Koehler; grandchildren: Andrew Croft, Dr. Katie (Dr. Lee) Rakes, Jared (Haley) Koehler, Grant Koehler, Aaron Koehler, Sydney Koehler, Wyatt Koehler, Ella Koehler; four great-grandchildren; brother, Errol Koehler; sister, Carmen (Ron) Barrons; sister-in-law, Barbara Sullivan; brother-in-law, Louis (Sharon) Wenzlaff. He is preceded in death by his parents, sons: Shane Koehler, Jeff Koehler; brother, Dennis Koehler; brother-in-law, Bob Sullivan.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025 in the friendship hall of Kingston Community Church. Memorials may be made to United Hospice of Aspire in Marlette or the Kingston Community Church.
