GARY LEE WICHERT

     Gary L. Wichert, 76, of Cass City, died Wednesday, October 18, 2023 in Select Specialty Hospital, Saginaw. He was born June 1, 1947 in Pigeon to Floyd and Irene (Belding) Wichert. He married RuthAnn Eimers on August 27, 1966 in Pigeon. She died July 14, 2023

     Gary graduated from Laker High School in 1965. He retired from Cole Carbide after forty-eight years. Gary was always there for anyone that needed help. He would fix things the traditional way or come up with an innovative solution. Gary enjoyed attending car races with his son, Garrett. He was fond of having coffee with his friends. Gary was loved by his neighbors and they would always see him coming on his "scooty pop" (mobile chair). His scooty pop made it possible for him to be helpful and get around. He loved to tinker in the garage, attend to his garden, and spend time with family and friends. Gary spent his last years caring for his wife, RuthAnn. His favorite pastime was fishing. Gary will be remembered for his big size, huge heart, and hammer cane. Gary was a member of the Cass City United Methodist Church.

     Gary is survived by his son, Garrett (Sara) Wichert of Cass City; three grandchildren: Ethan, Sophia and David; great granddaughter, Adelynn; siblings: Gilbert (Naomi) Wichert, Noel Wichert, Lois (Jack) Gallagher, Dale (Bonnie) Wichert; brother-in-law, Gerald (Barbara) Eimers; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife; brother, Ronald Wichert.

     Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2023 in Cass City United Methodist Church with Pastor Robert Demyanovich officiating. Memorials may be made to Garrett Wichert to be used towards a memorial bench to be placed at Gary's favorite fishing hole. Interment will be in Caseville Township Cemetery at a later date.
