Gerald Gilroy

August 28, 1941 — November 24, 2016

Gerald K. Gilroy, 75, of Kingston died unexpectedly Thursday, November 24, 2016 in St. John River District Hospital, East China, MI. He was born August 28, 1941 in Hazel Park to John and Ila (Smith) Gilroy. He married Lela Marie Weaver November 4, 1986 in Las Vegas, NV.

Gerald graduated from High School and later studied nursing for two years at Jackson Community College. He worked as a truck driver and warehouse worker for ChemPro Tech in Sterling Heights retiring after 17 years of service. During several vacations Jerry worked convention set-up and tear down at Joe Louis Arena. Jerry loved traveling with Lela across the U.S. in their motor home. For many years they traveled southwest where he would work construction for a few months and then head back north for the summer. He was a weight lifter and body builder for many years. Jerry also enjoyed watching professional football on television. He loved boating and found great peace when in his boat on the water. Jerry was fun to be around. Telling stories and making jokes out of everything are things friends and family remember about Jerry. In the last four or five years Jerry worked for Heaven Sent, a food bank in Marlette, and loved every minute he spent there, helping out and just making people smile.
