Jerri Frances Glaspie (Orlowski)

May 25, 1930 — September 11, 2022

JERRI FRANCES GLASPIE
92, of Cass City, died peacefully Sunday, September 11, 2022 in United Hospice of Marlette Regional Hospital. She was born May 25, 1930 in Cass City to Walter and Frances (Puszcyk) Orlowski. Growing up on the family farm on Cedar Run Road and a brief time in Detroit. Jerri lived an amazingly long life seeing many changes in the world, such as: driving on dirt roads to Detroit, World War II, the fabulous fifties where she danced the jitterbug, dancing to the Big Bands in Bay Port on Saturday nights and even using a cell phone.

Jerri married Grant Glaspie on March 3, 1951 and together they raised three children. Grant was a postmaster for many years in Cass City and Jerri was a homemaker and cared for her handicapped son Chris until he died at the age of forty-four. Jerri loved Christmas, large family gatherings, going to casinos and garage sales to find some treasures. She decorated her home with many of these terrific finds. Jerri had a flair for fashion and was even known as “hip” grandma and fashionista. She was generous and kind and always thought of others. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren gave her the most joy. When she worked as a telephone operator at the Wenona Hotel in Bay City, she met Rock Hudson. Jerri worked at Douglas Funeral Home in Cass City and for the airlines in Texas when Grant was in the Air Force.

Jerri is survived by her daughter Jan (Al) Finkbeiner of Caro; son, Honorable Kim (Jackie) Glaspie of Cass City; grandchildren: Andy Finkbeiner of Deford; Natalie (Marvin) Byler of Cedar Springs; Alyssa Glaspie of Austin, TX; Zachary (Elizabeth) Glaspie of Brighton; Samantha (Wil) Thomas of Whitmore Lake; great-grandchildren: Emma Byler, Cameron Glaspie, Quinton Glaspie, Mackenzie Thomas; sisters-in-law: Marilyn Orlowski of Caro; Sue Profit of Caro; special nieces and nephews who were very dear to her. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Grant; son, Chris; siblings: Richard Orlowski, Dorothy Aldrich, James Orlowski, Harry Orlowski, Chester Orlowski, Walter Orlowski, Edward Orlowski, Gertrude Nieman, nephew, Rick Orlowski; niece, Teresa Varsen.
