ELMER LEON HAHN

80, of Deford, died unexpectedly Thursday, January 30, 2020 in Covenant Medical Center, Cooper Campus, Saginaw. He was born December 28, 1939 in Unionville to Arnold and Martha (Vansteenhouse) Hahn. He married Judith Louise Neuman July 16, 1961 in Immanuel Lutheran Church of Sebewaing.

Elmer attended Unionville High School. He worked for the Unionville Elevator and farmed for over twenty years. Elmer later worked as a gravel train truck driver for Lee Wood Contracting of Essexville, retiring after 25 years. He enjoyed fishing for walleye and perch on the Saginaw Bay, but ice fishing was always his favorite. Elmer loved spending time playing and laughing with his grandchildren. For over forty years he was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, serving as a trustee and usher.

Elmer is survived by his wife, Judith; daughter, Joan (Jeff) Spry of Deford; sons: Arnold (Helen) Hahn of Grayling, James (Alice) Hahn of Frankenmuth, Christopher (Jessica) Hahn of Kingston; grandchildren: James (Emma), Holly, Isaac, Miranda (Robert), Sierra, Connor, Nathan, Andrew; one great granddaughter, Britton; daughter-in-law, Cathy Hahn of St. Helen; sisters: Saundra Schuette of Elkton; Elaine (Al) Horetski of Port Austin; brothers: Arnold (Michelle) Hahn of Unionville; Thomas (Judy) Hahn of Sebewaing; brothers-in-law: Larry (Kathy) Neuman of Caro, Roger Neuman of Sebewaing. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Hahn; brother, William Hahn; brother-in-law, Donald Schuette.

Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2020 in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Cass City with Rev. Steve Bagnall officiating. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and photos with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
