HAROLD JAMES “JIM” HARP

Harold “Jim” Harp, 70, of Deford died unexpectedly Wednesday, December 20, 2023 in McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital.  He was born June 5, 1953 in Caro to Harold and Irene (Stout) Harp.  He married Barbara Ann Buxton on June 30, 1984.  She died January 9, 2015. 

Jim worked as a heavy equipment operator for Iafrate Construction in Warren.  He was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed riding his Moto Guzzi.  Jim loved to tinker with motors and Euchre was his favorite card game.  Jim bought various newspapers every day with the Detroit Free Press being his favorite for the crossword puzzles. He had the biggest heart and would always give the shirt off his back, even for a stranger.  A true optimist, Jim will be remembered as always seeing the glass full to the top because he always found something good in everything.  A beacon of light to those unfamiliar, it's a far cry from the truth to say he will be missed by some.  

Jim is survived by his son, Tyler (Casandra) Harp of Kingston; grandchildren:  Christopher James Harp, Ellie Mae Lareign Harp; brother, John Harp; sister-in-law, Deborah Harp; beloved niece and helpful, Dawn Kienitz; many nieces and nephews; life-saving partner, Doreen Williams.  He is preceded in death by his brother, David Harp; sister, Sara Harp Gottler; sister-in-law, Mary Harp. 

Memorial gathering held 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Sunrise Sunset Bar.  Memorials may be made to Tyler Harp for the benefit of the family.
