Barbara Harp

February 11, 1947 — January 16, 2015

Barbara A. Harp, 67, of Deford, died Friday, January 16, 2015 in Covenant Medical Center Harrison Campus, Saginaw, following a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born February 11, 1947 in Livonia to Gerald and Dorothy (Hromek) Buxton. She married Harold James Harp June 30, 1984 at home on White Creek Road in Kingston.

Barb graduated from Bentley High School in Livonia. She was a self taught accountant. Barb and Jim owned the Kingston Times Bar and Restaurant in Kingston for 39 years where she meticulously kept the books, ordered supplies, scheduled staff, cared for every part of running that business and her family. Barb enjoyed crocheting, knitting and working in her flower gardens. She played on pool leagues over the years winning many trophies with her teammates. She loved to play golf and especially enjoyed the relaxing nature of the ladies league in Vassar. Barb was one of the best cooks around and loved to cook for her family and friends. She had an uncanny way of figuring things out, she was a problem solver. That may be why she loved watching Murder She Wrote and other "Who Done It" type shows and reading Mysteries. Barb loved to travel and took Tyler all over the world including Mexico, France, Italy, Spain and Aruba. She wanted Tyler to see the world and incite him to work hard so he could afford more travel if he wanted it as an adult. Barb opened her heart to stray animals and wayward souls. She loved and encouraged her friends and family members and will be greatly missed.

Barb is survived by her husband, Jim Harp; son, Tyler (Casandra Reeves) Harp of Kingston and her first grandchild due in April. Barb will also be missed by her brothers, Jerry (Sandy) Buxton of Arkansas, Corky "Buck" (Donna) Buxton of Fenton; several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents.
