HARRY T HARTWICK
Harry T Hartwick, 87, of Deford passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 in Autumnwood of Deckerville. Harry was born on November 20, 1929 on his family's farm in Deford, where he lived most of his life, to Fred and Olive (Gibbard) Hartwick. He married Harriet Marie Milligan on September 9, 1950 at her family home in Grant Township.
Harry graduated from Cass City High School in 1947. He went on to work at Frutchey Bean elevator in Deford and later as a manager in their Greenleaf location before leaving to work at Saginaw Steering Gear in 1968, retiring in 1993 after 25 years. As a younger man, Harry enjoyed playing in both baseball and softball leagues. Harry loved to hunt deer, pheasants and especially rabbit and listening to his best hunting dog, Bell, work. He always looked for another good hunter but never found another as good as she was. Harry was also very proud of his yard and garden that were immaculately kept.
Harry is survived by his wife of almost 67 years, Harriet; daughters: Dawn (Mike) Bills of Fuquay-Varina, NC; Anita (Jeff) Rich of Deckerville; close family friend, Kim Dorland of Coleman; grandchildren: Taylor (Jade) Bills, Ashley Bills, Nicole Bills; great grandchildren; London Bills and River Bills who is expected in May. He is preceded in death by his infant brother, Freddie and brothers: Arthur Hartwick, Grant Hartwick, Basil Hartwick, Gordon Hartwick and a sister, Doris Jordan.
Funeral service held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Sheila Robinson officiating. Interment will be in Novesta Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Hartwick are: Dave Robinson, Jessie Robinson, Taylor Bills, Jamie Kilbourn, Mike Bills, Josh Cox, Zach Hester and Cody Dorland. Memorials may be made to Autumnwood of Deckerville or Cass City VFW Post # 3644. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and stories with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
