WALTER DONAVAN HOFMANN
Walter D. Hofmann, 74, of Deford, died Monday, July 31, 2017 in his home. He was born January 17, 1943 in Detroit to Walter Edward and Anna Mae (Steinhauer) Hofmann.
Walter graduated from Utica High School in 1960. He went on to work for Chrysler Motor Company in Hamtramck as a journeyman electrician, retiring after 30 years. A licensed pilot, Walter loved flying in his Piper Cub plane. He enjoyed working in his garden and giving away the fruits of his labors, especially the tomatoes, to his neighbors.
Walter is survived by his siblings: Joyce (Roger) Kennedy of Ray, Evelyn Recore of Decker, Cheryl (David) Gertcher of Imlay City, Corinne (Mark) Oswald of Oxford; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Cary Hofmann, Mark Hofmann.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Moshier Cemetery, Hemans. Memorials may be made to Sanilac County Humane Society. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and stories with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
