John Hool

John "Jack" Francis Hool, 78, of Cass City, died following a long illness Friday, November 15, 2013 in his home with his family by his side. He was born December 16, 1934 at home in Gagetown to Harry and Ina (Crawford) Hool. He married Harriet Jane Hunt June 13, 1958 in Windsor at Assumption Chapel.

When Jack was 14 his family sent him to Windsor where he attended and graduated from Assumption Boarding School and College. Immediately following graduation he was asked to stay on as teacher, Dean of Students, coach and Athletic Director which he did for over 30 years. Jack and Jane raised their family in Windsor spending summers in Cass City with Jack working for his father-in- law at Hunt Construction. In 1977 Jack bought Hunt Construction, which he ran until his retirement. Jack loved life, was an inspiration and quiet, humble leader as teacher, coach and father. He was a member of St. Pancratius Catholic Church and Cass City Gagetown Knights of Columbus Council #8892 and a member of Cass City Gavel Club.

Jack is survived by his wife, Jane; children: Sara Jane (Sid) Ebare of Chatham, Ontario, Kimberly Kay (Joseph Goniwiecha) Hool of New Baltimore, John Hunt (Dawn) Hool of Windsor, Ontario; grandchildren: Justin "J.P." and Zach; brothers and sisters in law: Sally (Jerry) Forthun, Richard Hunt; nieces and nephews: Brian (Erica) Hunt, Cari (Kurt Russell) Hunt, Michael (Allison) Forthun, Elizabeth (Matt) Graft. Jack is also survived by his 16 year canine companion, LaBear. He is preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law, Curt and Dorothy Hunt; sister-in-law, Janice Hunt.

Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 18, 2013 in St. Agatha Catholic Church with Rev. Paul Bala and Sr. Maria Dina Puddu MC officiating. Interment will take place in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice.
