JOANN MARIE PETERS

            Joann M. Peters, 61, of Cass City, died unexpectedly Monday, November 13, 2023 surrounded by loved ones.  She was born February 18, 1962 in Pigeon to Anton and Marilyn (Osborn) Peters. 

            Joann enjoyed nature, fall color tours, and taking pictures of eagles while in her kayak on the river.  She collected rocks on many of her adventures.  With these rocks, Joann made specific hand-crafted gifts for family and friends, specific to their individual characteristics.  She took pride working for Michigan Salon Services in Cass City and especially dealing with customers.  Joann delighted in the care of the flower gardens at the Cass City Gun Club.  She was passionate about her views on social justice.  Joann maintained a special bond and relationship with her grandson, Aidan, who called her “Wama”.  She loved singing loudly and with feeling.  Joann will be remembered most for being a lot of fun, having a heart of gold, and love for her family and friends.  She was thrilled to be called “Awesome Aunt Jo”. 

            Joann is survived by her daughter, Antonette (Kadhem) Sallemi of Vassar; grandson, Aidan Hiiter; parents, Anton (Marilyn) Peters of Cass City; siblings:  Cindy Peters of Ann Arbor; Sally (Larry) Sines of Clinton; Patrick Peters and Tina of Bad Axe; step daughters:  Janelle and Jaclyn; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews.  She is preceded in death by her grandparents; brother, Christopher Peters; many treasured pets. 

            Memorial service held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2023 in First Presbyterian Church of Cass City with Sam Leppert, Funeral Celebrant officiating.  Following the service, a celebration of Joann’s life will continue at the Cass City Gun Club. Memorials may be made to Anton and Marilyn Peters to be used at the family’s discretion.
