RONALD LEE KAPPEN,
70, of Cass City died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 22, 2020 in Covenant Medical Center, Saginaw. He was born May 13, 1950 in Cass City to Wallace and Shirley (Koehler) Kappen. He married Sue Edna Smith February 14, 1993 in Novesta Church of Christ, Cass City.
Ron attended Cass City High School and worked for his father in his younger years. Later, he worked for Ajax Paving in Troy as a cement mixer truck driver for forty years. Ron raised chickens and cows and always had fresh eggs on hand. He watched old cowboy shows on television, Lone Ranger episodes were his favorite. Together with Sue, they enjoyed driving the motorhome and camping in state parks. Ron had a talent for using humorous clichés while speaking and using them in his own backwards way to fit any situation. His greatest hobby was collecting John Deere tractors, particularly Models A and B.
Ron is survived by his wife, Sue; her children: Tammy Rae (Jamie) Lemanksi of Mt. Washington, KY; Larry Richard McNeil of Orlando, FL; five grandchildren: Taylor (Marcus) Brown, Carter Lemanski, Brittany (Jake) Merchant, Lindsey McNeil, Chelsea Wilson; five great grandchildren; his mother, Shirley Kappen of Cass City; brother; Robert (Crystal) Kappen of Cass City; sister, Victoria (Ken) Proctor of Akron; sister-in-law, Susan Kappen; many nieces and nephews. Ron is preceded in death by his father, Wallace Kappen; brothers: Charles Kappen, John “Jack” Kappen; sister, Bonnie Kappen; niece, Aleigh Kappen.
