KATHLEEN MARIE HARTWICK
Kathleen M. Hartwick, 83, of Cass City, went home to be with her Savior after a long illness on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 in Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. She was born February 18, 1943, in Cass City the second youngest of five children born to George Sr. and Elizabeth (Reitter) Fisher. Kathleen was much loved by her late husband Charles and two sons: Chris (Maylin) and Eric (Norma); four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Kathleen grew up on a farm north of Cass City with her two brothers and two sisters, where she engaged in an occasional egg fight with her sister Jeanne on their large chicken farm. Her family life consisted of having lots of people over for dinner, so she developed her love of entertaining from a young age. Kathleen enjoyed canning the vegetables from her husband Chuck’s huge garden, along with pears and everyone’s favorite chunky applesauce. She graduated from Cass City High School, went on to nursing school, and later worked as a ward secretary for twenty-five years at Hills and Dales General Hospital in Cass City.
Kathleen was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Cass City where she served as a member of the Ladies Missionary Group, running a bus route with husband Chuck and cooking for many potlucks. She genuinely loved people and was happiest serving food at her home or attending every wedding, baby shower, and birthday party. She was a faithful wife to Chuck whom she married in 1964 and celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary in 2024.
Kathleen is survived by her sons: Christopher (Maylin) Hartwick, Eric (Norma) Hartwick; four grandchildren she loved so much: Sonja (Dale) Urmos, Preston (Ignaz) Hartwick, Seth (Mary) Hartwick, Josiah (Nitisha) Hartwick; five great-grandchildren; sister, Jeanne (John) Shagena. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Charles, parents; brothers: George and Arthur; sister, Carole Ann.
Funeral service held 1:00 pm. Saturday, March 21, 2026 in First Baptist Church, 6420 Houghton Street, Cass City with Pastor Christian Wright officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family to be used at their discretion.
