JOAN RUTH KNIGHT
93, of Cass City, died peacefully Tuesday, March 9, 2021 in Timberline Lodge Assisted Living, Caro. She was born June 26, 1927 in Ann Arbor to Harold and Mamie (Short) Knight.
Joan attended Dearborn schools. In her earlier years, Joan’s family moved to Arizona and Florida before making their way back and settling in Michigan. Joan worked as a sales clerk for Hudson’s Department Store in Detroit for many years. She was the happiest when she was outdoors, tending to her beautiful flower gardens and her tomato plants. Joan was a woman of strong faith and a lover of animals, especially cats. Always making certain to diligently care for them and spoil them, Joan had even been known to baptize them. Throughout her lifetime, she always owned a cat or a dog, or two or three, as a pet.
Joan is survived by her sister, Naomie (Ray) Greenwald of Citrus Hill, FL; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside service will be held at a later date in Elkland Township Cemetery. Sam Leppert, Funeral Service Celebrant will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Tuscola County or Timberline Lodge Assisted Living, Caro.
