ROY ALLEN KOOP
89, of Cass City, died Thursday, December 9, 2021 in his home. He was born August 15, 1932 in Waterford Township the seventh of eight children born to Ernst Rudolph and Bertha (Koch) Koop. He married Betty Inez Wade on December 10, 1964 in Pontiac. She died November 1, 2009.
Roy worked at Pontiac Motors as a heavy press operator for twenty-eight years. He served his country with the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1966. Roy was an aircraft mechanic and was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He enjoyed camping, bonfires, backyard barbecues, and visiting with family and friends. In his free time, Roy liked feeding the birds, watching deer, and television. He always had a great story of the past to share.
Roy is survived by his children: Martha Koop of CA, Theresa Rico of CA; Betty’s children: Pauline (John) Fitzpatrick of Cass City; Richard Powell of Bay Port; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife; Betty’s children: Dennis Powell, Betty Novak, Shelby Peters, Tommy Powell.

Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 16, 2021 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Pastor Wendy Orzel officiating. Military honors conducted by the Cass City VFW Post #3644 and the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery in the spring. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans. Family and friends may share memories, prayers, and photos at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
