Rosella Kretzschmer

Rosella E. Kretzschmer, 96, of Owendale, died Tuesday, October 7, 2014 in Northwood Meadows, Cass City. She was born March 25, 1918 in Grant Township, Cass City to Roy and Florence (Duffield) Powell. She married William Fredrick Kretzschmer, Sr. June 17, 1938 at his family home in Owendale. He died October 4, 1985.

Rosella graduated from Owendale High School in 1936. She worked as a teacher's aide in Owen-Gage Elementary School. Rosella enjoyed oil painting, crocheting, knitting and sewing, making many beautiful quilts and restoring old dolls to their original beauty. Rosella lived her life for Christ. She enjoyed playing piano in the Owendale United Methodist Church. Later, Rosella became an active member of the Cass City First Baptist Church.

Rosella is survived by her son, William (Norma) Kretzschmer, Jr. of Owendale; daughters: Kathleen (Ron) Hofmeister of Traverse City, Marilyn Kowbel of Norwalk, IA, Linda Garthe of Milford, Janice Crockett of Traverse City; grandchildren: Karla Kretzschmer, Kendra Kretzschmer, Kellin Kretzschmer, Brandon Hofmeister, Stephen (Stephanie) Kowbel, Stephanie (Gordon) Hawkins, Trisha (Paul) Baareman, Philip Garthe, Toni (Shaun) Barker, John David Crockett, Kristi (Mason) Morrow, Jami Crockett, Col. Charles W. (Kellie) Hill, Raelynn (Jeff) Nimmo, Charles Tanner Hill; great grandchildren: Kristina Kretzschmer, Joshua Hawkins, Micah Kowbel, Micaela Kowbel, Conner Hawkins, Blake Baareman, Olivia Baareman, Jordan (Christopher) McNeal, Devyn Crockett, Nolan Morrow, Anamarie Baker, Kenneth Baker, Hayden Morrow, John David Crockett, Jr., Richard Parker Miller, Morgan Nimmo, Christopher Nimmo; great great grandchildren: John McNeal, Jamie McNeal, Dominque McNeal; brother, Ted Powell of Cass City; sisters-in-law: Esther Powell of Owendale, Beulah Kretzschmer of Caro; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, William; daughter, Maureen Elizabeth Hill; sons-in-law: Donald Kowbel, Richard Crockett; brothers and sisters: Virginia Allison, Sanford Powell, Michael Powell, Vern Powell, Dean Powell.

Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2014 in Cass City First Baptist Church with Rev. David Hill officiating. Interment will be in Grant Township Cemetery.
