LARRY JAMES SUMMERS
Larry J. Summers, 82, of Gagetown died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at home. He was born March 23, 1944 in Gagetown to Lawrence and Marquerite (Cummings) Summers. He married Carol Jean Root on August 1, 1964 in Cass City United Methodist Church.
Larry graduated from Owendale High School in 1962. He worked for Walbro in Cass City in 1964, went on to work at Croft-Clara Lumber in Cass City for many years, and retired from the Caro Building Center in 2009. Larry was a lifelong bowler. He started bowling as a senior in high school and has bowled with his son, Tom, and grandson, Justin; three generations of Summers. He played slow and fast pitch softball for years and coached Tom’s Little League team and Terri’s softball team. Larry loved all sports, especially the University of Michigan Wolverines teams.
Larry was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time working in his yard. He loved his family more than anything. Being a grandfather and great grandfather was his ultimate joy. Together, Larry and Carol attended Novesta Church of Christ for several years.
