LINDA LOU RUMPL

Linda L. Rumpl, 75, died peacefully with family by her side on Monday, March 2, 2026 in her son’s home in Warren. She was born May 10, 1950 in Detroit to Louis John and Audrey Mae (Masker) Horvath. She married Matthew Conrad Rumpl Jr. on March 23, 1974 in California. Linda and Matthew were childhood sweethearts who met in junior high and remained married until Matthew died in 2024.

Linda graduated from Lakeshore High School in 1968 and earned her associate’s degree from Macomb Community College. She worked as an office manager for a general contractor until she retired. Linda loved to cook and read and was an avid gardener who was always digging in the dirt. She created a breathtaking backyard floral oasis that was the envy of the neighborhood. You could always find her barefoot in her backyard planting flowers or picking vegetables. Linda had a gift with planting and gardening. She could revive all of the plants that were on the brink of death.

Linda was extremely outgoing and would chat with whomever she encountered. She would go out of her way to help anyone in need especially her family. Linda loved her family and special grandsons: Matthew and Gavin. Linda was known as Gram and her husband was known as Papa. Gram and Papa would host regular sleepovers when their grandsons were little and took countless trips to the zoo and splash park with the family over the years. Together, they came to everything the boys did at school from plays, concerts, award ceremonies, and they never missed an opportunity to be there cheering them on. Linda and Matthew’s grandchildren were truly their pride and joy.

Linda is survived by her son, Clint (Katrina) Rumpl; grandsons: Matthew Rumpl, Gavin Rumpl; sister, Debbie Sheppard; sister-in-law, Katherine; brothers-in-law: James, Tony, and Douglas. She is preceded in death by her husband; sister, Laura Sprinstead; brother-in-law, Steve Sheppard.

Interment for Linda and Matthew, will take place at a later date in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
