DENNIS ALAN LITTLE
68, of Bay City, formerly of Cass City, died on Friday, May 6, 2022 in McLaren Bay Region Hospital, Bay City. He was born February 16, 1954 at home in Cass City to Keith and Wanetta (Woodard) Little.
Dennis grew up on his family’s farm, where they raised cattle and hogs. Later in high school he took a job with Walbro, as janitor. He graduated from Cass City High School with the Class of 1972. He continued his career holding different titles along the way, including maintenance tech which took him as far as Hong Kong. He married Christine VanVliet on August 5, 1978 and soon started their family. A nature lover, Dennis was an avid hunter and rarely missed a season in the woods hunting deer, turkey, searching for morels or picking blueberries. Dennis always had a dog by his side and rescued several throughout his lifetime. He followed the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings, recording every game he couldn’t watch live. He was a dedicated fan and spectator of his grandchildren’s sporting events never missing a game. Dennis loved being “Papa” and enjoyed spending time with his five grandchildren. Above all he loved his family, grandchildren, and God.
Dennis’s faith was established early in Novesta Church of Christ, where his grandfather and father served faithfully. He continued his life in church by attending Bay Valley Christian Church in Bay City. Dennis battled addiction throughout life but started his sobriety journey November 21, 2004. He remained sober the rest of his life. He was a very giving man and truly fulfilled his life’s purpose by using his sobriety to help others. Dennis was an integral part of the AA community in Bay County and the surrounding areas. The aid he gave to others and their families with their sobriety and recovery will be remembered by many and is truly a story of God’s redeeming grace. It is a true testimony of how Dennis loved to help others with his tender heart.
Dennis is survived by his son, Joshua (Amy) Little of Essexville; daughter, Ashley (Nick) Chippi of Cass City, grandchildren: Brooks, Wyatt, Grady, Eden, Elliana; siblings: David (Donna) Little of Cass City, Dean (Patricia) Little of Cass City, Brenda (Stu) Venema of Cass City, Karen (Scott) McDaniel of Ave Maria, FL;
ex-wife and friend, Christine Little. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial service held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2022 in Novesta Church of Christ with Brad Speirs officiating. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Bay County. Family and friends are encouraged to share memories, prayers, and photos at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
