LONNIE RAY OLIVER

Lonnie R. Oliver, 86, of Kingston, died Monday, June 1, 2026 in his son’s home with family by his side. He was born March 8, 1940 in Pontiac to Raymond William and Sadie (Law) Oliver. He married Carolyn Colbeth on January 21, 1960 in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pontiac.

Lonnie graduated from Pontiac High School. He served four years in the United States Air Force and two years non-active duty. Lonnie worked at the Pontiac Press and later for Pontiac Motors for over twenty-seven years until his retirement. He liked to play cribbage, euchre, and pinnacle. He watched military and old western movies, and listened to audiobooks. Lonnie followed the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Lions. The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds were very special to him. Lonnie loved spending time with his family and singing. He was a great storyteller and enjoyed sharing old stories.

Lonnie is survived by his wife, Carolyn; children: Russ (Carrie) Oliver of Kingston, Daniel (Janie) Oliver of Ft. Wayne, IN; Robert (Stella) Oliver of Pontiac; Suzanne Oliver of Clarkston; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings: Ernest Fred (Mary) Oliver, Paul Oliver, Dale Rodreguez. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Betty (Peter) Raczka, Linda (Arthur) Newby, Minnie (Frank) Singer; sister-in-law, Joyce Oliver; brother-in-law, Rod Rodriguez. Cremation has taken place. A private service will be held at a later date.
