MARVIN “MARV” KLEIN

Marvin "Marv" Klein, 66, a cherished member of the Cass City community, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2025, surrounded and comforted by his loving family. Born on March 7, 1958, in Pigeon, Michigan, to Ralph "Bud" and Geraldine “Gerry” Klein, Marv grew up in a loving home with his two brothers and sister, surrounded by strong values. During his teenage years, he worked under his father’s guidance at Shetler Plumbing and Heating, helping after school, weekends, and during the summer months. After graduating from Laker High School in 1976, Marv transitioned to full-time work at Shetler Plumbing and Heating. It was his father, Bud, who first began the family’s journey in the plumbing and heating trade, a legacy that Marv proudly continued and passed on to his sons, son-in-law, and grandson.

At eighteen, Marv married his high school sweetheart, Leslie Farver. Marv always wanted a large family, often saying that as long as they could sit down to a meal and have food left over, they could welcome another child. Together, they shared twelve years and raised five children, who became the center of his world. By age twenty-two, Marv was one of the youngest Master Plumbers in Michigan, a testament to his skill and dedication. Over the years, he earned numerous certifications and license classifications, solidifying his reputation as a master of the trade. In 1989, Marv founded Superior Sprinkler Systems, marking the beginning of his entrepreneurial journey. By 1992, he fully transitioned from Shetler Plumbing and Heating to establish his second business, Superior One, Inc. Marv poured his heart into the company, working closely with his family for nearly three decades. His dedication to excellence and patient teaching left an indelible mark on his sons, son-in-law, and grandson, ensuring his legacy would continue through their craftsmanship and passion.

Marv’s life was defined by his love for the outdoors and adventurous spirit. A hunting enthusiast, he enjoyed numerous trips to Ontario and Quebec for ice fishing and moose hunting, as well as elk hunting excursions in Colorado, which were always shared with family and close friends, reflecting the strong hunting traditions he grew up with. Marv shared countless memories rabbit hunting with his beloved beagles: Pal, Gus, Syd, and Ellie. He was an active member of the Cass City Gun Club, where he enjoyed trap and skeet shooting, and The White Creek Club, where he built lifelong friendships.

Marv’s love of aviation led him to purchase a Piper Archer airplane, which he took great pride in owning and sharing with his family. He especially enjoyed taking his grandchildren to the hangar, teaching them about the airplane, and sparking their curiosity and excitement about flight.

When not working or in the field, Marv embraced hobbies like fishing, boating, camping, ice skating, skiing, scuba diving, swimming, and riding his Gold Wing motorcycle. He cherished coaching his sons’ Cass City Yankees baseball teams and was a loyal fan of the Detroit Tigers. His love of sports and the outdoors inspired his children and grandchildren, creating countless cherished memories. Marv leaves behind a legacy of dedication, patience, kindness, and wisdom. His strength and love enriched the lives of all who knew him, and his memory will be forever treasured.

Marv is survived by his parents, Ralph "Bud" and Geraldine “Gerry” Klein; five children: Jason (Jessica) Klein, Lindsay (Steve) Fetterhoff, Nathon (Shelly) Klein, Matthew (Jennifer) Klein, and Joshua (Adrienne) Klein; fourteen grandchildren: Riley Klein, Dawson Klein, Alexis Fetterhoff, Kaitlyn Fetterhoff, Ethon Fetterhoff, Isabella Klein, Olivia Klein, Daniel Klein, Ross Klein, Maxx Klein, Lennox Klein, Jackson Klein, Monroe Klein, Oakley Klein; great-grandson, Leo Bauer; siblings: Linda (Frank) Gorkowski, Steve (Kim) Klein; sister-in-law, Nancy Klein; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard and Neva Klein, Isabel and Carl Briley; his brother, Philip Klein; and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
