DAVID ALAN MILLS,
66, of Caro died unexpectedly Saturday, November 10, 2018 in his home. He was born November 8, 1952 in Wyandotte, the second of seven children born to Donald Parsons and Patricia Ann (Cox) Mills. He married Rosemary Spencer in 1973 in the preacher’s house on Kelly Road in Cass City. She died July 3, 1989.
David attended Cass City High School, where he played football. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era for 14 years including time in the Reserves. David worked as heavy equipment operator and truck driver for Petrolane Gas Company of Gagetown. He worked with his brother at Mills Body Shop in Caro. David later worked for Fischer Convalescent Home in Mayville for 14 years until he was disabled. He enjoyed cutting and milling firewood with his nephew, Frank. David was a kind man and loved to help others.
David is survived by his daughter, Dawn Marie (Darrin Sleight) Mills of Mayville; special friend, Krystal Thompson of Caro; grandchildren: David Sleight, Amber Sleight, Andrew Sleight; nephew, Frank (Joyce) Spencer of Cass City; brothers: Don (Ellen) Mills of Palms, Dan (Linda) Mills of Caro, Dale (Judy Martin) Mills of Cass City, Valerie Hudson of Cass City, Doug (Rocky) Mills of Watertown, SD; Virginia (Scot) Buschlen of Owendale, mother, Patricia Mills of Caro; many nieces, nephews and their families. David is also survived by Krystal’s family: Ken and Angie Gark of Caro, David and Heidi Gibson of Mayville, Jenny Brandmair of Reese and their families. He is preceded in death by his father, Donald P. Mills; sister-in-law, Carol A. Mills.
Funeral service held 12:00 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2018 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Austin Keller of Ubly Christian Church officiating. Pallbearers for David will be: Don Mills, Dan Mills, Dale Mills, Doug Mills, Christopher Mills, David Sleight and Andrew Sleight. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund.
