KATHERINE ADA MONTEI-ELAZEGUI,
66, of Caro, died unexpectedly Tuesday, October 29, 2013 in her home. She was born September 13, 1947 in Caro to Kenneth C. and Venetta K. (Smith) Montei.

After Kathy's graduation from Kingston High School she attended Saginaw Business Institute. She worked as a nurses aid for Caro Community Hospital. After moving to the Detroit area Kathy worked as an Emergency Room Technician at Deacon Memorial Hospital. Upon her return to the Thumb area she worked, for a short time, as a nurses aid at Marlette Community Hospital before beginning her job with Human Development Commission in 2000 as a Senior Services Specialist. Kathy enjoyed many varied arts and craft projects including crocheting, knitting and sewing. She was a former active member of Kingston Wesleyan Church where she served as Sunday School Superintendent. Kathy was currently a member of Ellington Church of the Nazarene where she gave tirelessly in their card ministry. She loved children. Her nieces and nephews were a very important part of her life.

Kathy is survived by her brothers: Richard (Carol) Montei of Jersey Shore, PA, Ronald (Kay) Montei of Deford, William Montei of Millington, Joel (Pamela) Montei of Kingston; nieces and nephews: Brenda (Lon) Belcher, Amy (Evan) Brown, Brian (Rachel) Montei, John (Joy) Montei, Marc (Carin) Montei, Leah (Rob) Sangster, Amanda (Jon Zimmerman) Montei, Caleb Montei, Joshua Montei; great nieces and nephews: Mariah, Andres, Samuel, Elizabeth, Emily, Luke, Colton, Joshua, Lindsey, Joseph, Ethan, Lydia, Alyssa, Cody. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2013 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Pastor Ronald Comfort of Ellington Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment will be in Kingston Cemetery. Pallbearers for Ms. Montei-Elazegui: Josh Montei, John Montei, Marc Montei, Samuel Brown, Evan Brown, Ethan Montei, Joseph Montei, Cody Sangster, Andres Belcher. Memorials may be made to Ellington Church of the Nazarene Children's Ministry. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and stories with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
