Dallas Harmond Nichols

November 21, 1943 — August 20, 2021

DALLAS HARMOND NICHOLS
77, of Snover, lost his battle with cancer and died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, August 20, 2021. He was born November 21, 1943 in Cass City to Harmond and Emma (Gibson) Nichols. He married Kathryn Lynn VanVliet on December 14, 1963 in Cass City.

Dallas graduated from Cass City High School in 1962. He then followed in his father’s footsteps and began working as a heavy equipment operator. However; motorcycles and racing were his true passion; so, with Kathy’s support and encouragement, Dallas followed his dream and started his own business, Caro Honda Sales, where he sold and serviced motorcycles for twenty years. Later he returned to work as a heavy equipment operator for Whalen Contracting of Caro, and eventually retired from CR Hunt Construction of Cass City. Dallas loved spending time with his family, watching his grandchildren play sports and supporting them in whatever they did. He also loved racing motorcycles, traveling around the eastern states & winning many national races. Dallas was a lifetime member of The American Motorcyclist Association for over 60 years. He loved to attend flat track racing and mentor younger riders. His other hobbies included restoring vintage motorcycles & tractors, attending motorcycle swap meets and raising cattle and chickens. Dallas was very outgoing and easily made friends everywhere he went with his friendly disposition and memorable smile. He lived life to the fullest and left a lasting impression on those he met. It’s not goodbye, it’s just so long…

Dallas is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughter, Deanna (Steve) Orlando of Brighton; son, Andy (Lee) Nichols of Caro; grandchildren: Alyssa Orlando, Lauren Orlando, Dallas Andrew Nichols II, Jacob Nichols, Jeremy Trout, Kristin (Grant) Goetschy; great grandchildren: Ryan, Thomas, Abigail; siblings: Philip J (Kathy) Nichols, of Decker; Pamela Ouvry of Cass City; Douglas Nichols of Decker; brother-in-law: Richard (Mary Jane) VanVliet of Cass City; sister-in-law, Christine Little of Cass City; brother-in-law, Douglas Herringshaw of Caro; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Jeffrey Nichols; sister-in-law, Susan Herringshaw; nephew, Michael Hutchinson.
