Ralph F. Perry, 88, of Cass City died following a short illness Saturday, June 4, 2016 in United Hospice of Marlette Residence Center, Marlette. He was born July 5, 1927 at home in Detroit the fourth of six children born to Stanley and Catherine (D'Arga) Perry. He married Caroline Marion Phillips June 24, 1949 in Holy Name Catholic Church in Detroit.

As a young person Ralph worked selling flags on Six Mile and Van Dyke to earn money for the family. He later worked as a soda jerk in a local dairy bar serving ice cream cones and milk shakes. A maintenance man at Forest Lawn Cemetery was his next job before a co-op job with Chrysler. At 17 he joined the Merchant Marines and served during World War II. Ralph worked as a Police Officer for the Detroit Police Department retiring after many years of service. He was a former member of the Toastmasters Club. After moving to Cass City, Ralph was a member of Our Lady Consolata Parish, St. Pancratius Catholic Church. He enjoyed watching sports on television, especially Detroit Lions football, Detroit Tigers baseball and golf.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Carrie; children: Ralph F. (Lynn) Perry, Jr. of Sterling Heights, Carol (Mark) Pirie of Charlevoix, Janet (Dan Gilt) Perry of Port Huron, Brion (Renee) Perry of Dearborn, Jason (Andrea) R. Perry of Oxford; grandchildren: Diana, Ralph F. III (Anita), Jimmy, Cheryl, Steve (Sarah), Donald (Sarah), Nicholas, Shane, Jeff, Nathaniel, Madelyne; great grandchildren: Alexander, Lilianna, Marco, A.J., Mason, Mila, Tyler, Riley, Donald III, Chase, Alex; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his siblings: Arthur Perry, Dorothea Gogola, Robert Perry, Stanley Perry and Clarence Perry.

Private funeral service held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2016 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Rev. Christian Tabares of Our Lady Consolata Parish, St. Pancratius Catholic Church officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
