Murell E. Peters, 70, of Lake Orion died following a long illness Monday, August 17, 2015 in his home with his family by his side. He was born February 10, 1945 in Pontiac the middle of three children born to Emerson and Harriet (Kritzman) Peters. He married Mary Lee Goodwin September 24, 1976 in Marietta, GA. She died August 25, 2014.
Murell graduated from Lake Orion High School. He worked at Pontiac Motors for General Motors Company retiring in 1993 after 30 years of service. Murell then worked for Excel Circuits in Auburn Hills for 17 years, retiring in 2013. Murell enjoyed watching sports on television. He enjoyed the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Pistons, Detroit Lions and Detroit Red Wings and watching college sports also. Murell was a NASCAR fan. In years past Murell enjoyed taking his family on camping trips.
Murell is survived by his children: Dee Dee Peters of Clarkston, Bryan Peters of Waterford, Cheralee (Terry) Achtabowski of Lapeer, William Peters of Decker, Shannon (Jeff) Hoseclaw of Marlette, Suzette Williams of Lake Orion and Julie Gard of Niles; 16 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Charlotte Brown of Pontiac; many nieces and nephews; his dog, Lady. He is preceded in death by his sister, Margie Brock; son-in-law, David Williams and his parents.
Funeral service held 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2015 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Pastor Charles Hunley officiating. Interment is in Elkland Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Peters: Roger Kritzman, Chuck Kritzman, Roger Stewart, Anthony Jarrett, Michael Achtabowski and Fred Kritzman. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association.
