ROBERT CHARLES "BOB" PHILLIPS,
90, of Kingston, died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 8, 2014 in Select Specialty Hospital, Saginaw. He was born June 1, 1924 in Rockford, IA. He married Elizabeth McDonald June 22, 1955 in Kingston United Methodist Church.

Bob is a graduate of Kingston High School. He served in the U.S. Army, C Company, 21st Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He served as 2nd Lieutenant Commanding Officer at the end of World War II in Japan. After his military service, Bob returned to Iowa to work in his uncles' body shop. After returning to the Kingston area Bob owned and operated the Kingston Auto Body where they did auto body repair and offered a wrecker service. Bob was a United States Postal Service Mail Carrier in the Kingston and Deford areas retiring after over 30 years of service. He was a life member of the State Association Mounted Division Sheriff's Posse recently receiving his 50 year jacket. Bob was a 4H leader with the Saddleclub for 18 years. He served on the Kingston Village Council for about five years and was a member of the Kingston Fire Department for 41 years serving as its Chief for seven years. Bob was also a member of the Kingston VFW Post #5317 and the Kingston AMVETS Post #1072. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, camping and traveling.

Bob is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; children: Rob (Kim) Phillips of Kingston, Blaine (Lynn) Phillips of Kingston; grandchildren: Dan, Ryan, Kristi and David; sister, Avril Graves of Waterford; several nieces and nephews. Bob is preceded in death by his sister, Ardith Heineman.

Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014 in Kranz Funeral Home, Kingston with Debra L.
Kranz, Funeral Service Celebrant, officiating. Interment will be in Kingston Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Phillips: Dan Phillips, Ryan Phillips, Kristi Phillips, David Phillips, Tim Ruggles and Ray Caverly. Military honors under the direction of U.S. Army and Kingston VFW Post#5317 and Kingston AMVETS Post#1074. Memorials may be made to Kingston Fire and Rescue or Marlette Extended Care Unit.
