DEAN ALAN RASMUSSEN,
52, of Cass City, died following a short illness Sunday, August 10, 2014 in St. Mary's Medical Center, Saginaw. He was born February 24, 1962, in Cass City the seventh child of eight born to Kenneth James and Maureen Jeanette (Graves) Rasmussen. He married JoAnn Marie Prokopenko September 22, 1990 in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Unionville.
Dean graduated in 1980 from USA High School. Since the age of 16 Dean has been working for the family business, Rasmussen Transport Inc. The business was started by his father in 1952. Dean currently worked as Manager. Dean enjoyed hunting especially turkey and deer, fishing and boating. His children were a very important part of his life. Dean attended all of their sports activities and was very proud of each of them.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, JoAnn; children: Jordyn Rasmussen of Cass City, Shane Rasmussen of Cass City, Taylor Rasmussen of Cass City; parents, Kenneth and Maureen Rasmussen of Sebewaing; brothers: Dennis (Deb) Rasmussen of Cass City, Dave (Dinah) Rasmussen of Elkton, Curt Rasmussen of Cass City; sisters: Denise (Dave) Arndt of Saginaw, Brenda (Don) Hofmeister of Sebewaing, Nancy (B.J.) Arnst of Saginaw, Janette Nitz of Sebewaing; mother-in-law, Nettie Prokopenko of National City; brother-in-law, Alan 'Mooches' (Sally) Prokopenko of Akron; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father-in-law, James Prokopenko.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2014 in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Unionville with Rev. Edward Meyer of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Saginaw officiating. Interment will be in Wisner Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Rasmussen: Mark Kelcher, Steve Kelcher, Butch Gunsell, Tom Eisengruber, Mark Kawecki and Al Kuhn.
