HAROLD LELAND RAYL
Harold L. Rayl, 90, of Cass City, died Saturday, August 19, 2017 in Northwood Meadows Medical Care Unit, Cass City. He was born December 31, 1926 in Almer Township the third of ten children to Earl and Harriett (Childs) Rayl. He married Helen Aletha Warner March 12, 1948 in her parents’ home in Deford. She died August 8, 2017.
Harold graduated from Cass City High School in 1945. His mother received his diploma as he was headed down to Detroit to enlist in the United States Army. Harold served our country as a military policeman in Italy during WWII. Following the war, he attended Detroit Bible Institute. Harold worked various jobs including the Form Gang that paved M46 and for General Cable of Cass City. He retired in 1984 from Saginaw Steering Gear on disability due to brucellosis. Harold enjoyed playing guitar, ping pong and golf at every opportunity. He loved camping and time spent with his grandchildren. Harold’s passion was to share God’s love in everything he did and with everyone he met. He was always willing to follow Helen wherever she went. Together they were lay ministers throughout their marriage to many children and adults at home and in First Baptist Church of Cass City.
Harold is survived by his children: Rona (Jack) Hillaker of Cass City, Ruth (Ron) Shaw of Loveland, CO; Lynn (Michael) Sherman of Cass City; grandchildren: Jandi (Ryan) Baker of Livonia; Jodi (Lance) Roark of Rockford; Tony Shaw of Lakewood, CO; Courtney (Sara) Shaw of Broomfield, CO; Mike (Britton) Sherman of Windsor, CO; Tim (Sue) Sherman of Montrose, CO; great grandchildren: Alex, Avery, Ella, Jude, Annie, Macy, Ava, Whitney, Antonio, Isabel, Evie, Vaughn; sister, Marilynn (Duane) Rich of Sandusky; brothers: Elmer (Donna) Rayl of Akron, Walt (Dee) Rayl of Marlette, Linel (Janet) Rayl of St. Helen, Archie (Sandy) Rayl of Grand Rapids; many, many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn (Doug) Stewart; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ed (Marion) Rayl, Arnold (Mattie) Rayl, Earl (Vernita) Rayl Jr.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 24, 2017 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Pastor David Hill of First Baptist Church of Cass City officiating. Interment is in Novesta Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Northwood Meadows. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and stories with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
