HELEN ALETHA RAYL
Helen A. Rayl, 87, of Cass City, died Tuesday, August 8, 2017 in Covenant Healthcare Cooper Campus, Saginaw. She was born October 6, 1929 in Evergreen Township to Hazen and Edna (Collins) Warner. She married Harold Leland Rayl March 12, 1948 in her parents’ home in Deford.
Helen graduated Salutatorian in 1946 from Cass City High School. She attended Northeastern School of Commerce in Bay City. Her career included working at Nestles of Cass City, Guerdon Industries of Marlette and Walbro Corporation of Cass City, where she retired March 30, 1989. Helen loved to ice skate and would do so whenever and wherever she could. She was an accomplished seamstress and passed on her skill and love of sewing to her daughters. Helen loved music and played the piano and organ for the First Baptist Church of Cass City. She and Harold were very active in the youth ministry of the church, where they touched many lives. Golfing with family and friends was a favorite pastime as well as spending time with her grandchildren.
Helen is survived by her husband, Harold; children: Rona (Jack) Hillaker of Cass City, Ruth (Ron) Shaw of Loveland, CO; Lynn (Michael) Sherman of Cass City; grandchildren: Jandi (Ryan) Baker of Livonia; Jodi (Lance) Roark of Rockford; Tony Shaw of Lakewood, CO; Courtney (Sara) Shaw of Broomfield, CO; Mike (Britton) Sherman of Windsor, CO; Tim (Sue) Sherman of Montrose, CO; great grandchildren: Alex, Avery, Ella, Jude, Annie, Macy, Ava, Whitney, Antonio, Isabel, Evie, Vaughn; sister, Geri (Jim) Perry of Cass City; sister in law, Kathy Warner of Vassar; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Gerald Warner, Wilmer Warner, Ken Warner, Art Warner; sister in laws: Norma Warner, Elsie Warner, Lois Warner.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 14, 2017 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Rev. Lee Taylor of Fellowship Baptist Church of Whitmore Lake, Michigan officiating. Interment is in Novesta Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Northwood Meadows. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and stories with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
