Dennis Burton Regnerus

Dennis B. Regnerus, 65, of Cass City died unexpectedly Tuesday, October 30, 2018 in his home. He was born December 16, 1952 in Cass City the third child of eight born to George James and Peggy Marie (Phillips) Regnerus. He married Linda Rose Prosowski September 17, 1977 in St. Pancratius Catholic Church, Cass City.

Dennis graduated from Mt. Clemens High School with the class of 1972. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard. Dennis was stationed on Sitkinak Island, AK, Lampedusa, Italy, Cleveland, OH and Traverse City until he was honorably discharged in 1977. He worked for General Cable in Cass City until the plant closed then the family moved to Florida from 2002 through 2010. After returning to Cass City Dennis began working for Huron Castings where he currently worked. Dennis served as a volunteer on the Cass City Fire Department years ago. He enjoyed hunting, ice skating, roller blading and ice hockey. Dennis gathered young people who wanted to learn hockey to the rink behind Parkway Party Store. There he became known as “coach”. Dennis was fearless as a young man and tough as nails in high school football. He also enjoyed playing cards with family. Dennis was great at sharing memories. He loved to laugh and joke around. Dennis never hurt a fly. He was generous and had no enemies. Dennis enjoyed listening to classic country music, George Jones was his favorite.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Sonya (Michael Pawlak) Regnerus of Cass City; siblings: George “Jim” (Ruth) Regnerus of Chesterfield Township, Tim (Martha Jo) Regnerus of Utica, Dawn (Richard) Rick of Cass City, Paul (Virginia) Regnerus of Cass City, Barbara (Dwaine) Peters of Cass City; special uncle, Milt Phillips of Cass City; many nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Suzanne Whelton; brother, William “Bill” Regnerus; aunt Brenda Phillips; nephews: Patrick Regnerus, DJ Peters III.

Funeral service held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2018 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Brad Speirs of Novesta Church of Christ officiating. Pallbearers for Dennis will be: Alan Prosowski, Jr., John Phillips, Mike Prosowski, Scott Regnerus, Josh Regnerus, Kyle Rick. Honorary pallbearers: Milt Phillips, Jim Regnerus, Tim Regnerus, Paul Regnerus, Richard Rick, Dwaine Peters, Alan Prosowski, Sr. and Dale Mills.
