RICHARD WILLIAM WALLACE
Richard W. Wallace, 92, of Cass City died unexpectedly Wednesday, May 14, 2026 in Covenant Healthcare Cooper Campus, Saginaw. Dick was born November 15, 1933 in Cass City to Cameron “Buzz” and Margaret (Hurley) Wallace. He married Norma Elizabeth Osborn on March 20, 1968 in First Presbyterian Church of Cass City.
Dick graduated from Cass City High School. He received a bachelor’s degree from Alma College where he played tennis and as a center on their football team. Dick worked for Walbro as a controller and ran its internal credit union for many years. Like his father before him, he was later employed by, and retired from, Cass City State Bank. Dick earned the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts and was a veteran of the United States Army. He spent more than three decades volunteering as one of the “chain gang” for the Cass City High School football team. Dick grew up bowling and was an avid bowler, but golfing was his favorite sport. As his son Tom said, “Golfing was his life”. Dick held the title for being the longest standing member of the Cass City Gavel Club. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Cass City, where he was a liturgist and even gave the occasional sermon.
Dick is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Norma; their sons: Thomas (Leigh) Wallace of Mt. Pleasant, Stephen Wallace of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren: Ashley (Josh) Willard, Mikayla (Sammy Shamlin) Wallace, Allison Wallace, Madison Wallace, Kyle Wallace, Grace Wallace; great grandchildren: Gabe Willard, Dylan Willard, Lincoln Shamlin; many beloved nieces and nephews.
